Last year, FILMEDGE was highly impressed and a loyal weekly viewer of Alan Ball's TRUEBLOOD, the sexy and sophisticated HBO series adaption of Charlaine Harris's popular novels about the telepathic barmaid from Bon Temps, Louisiana.  Anna Paquin charmed viewers as Sookie Stackhouse who fell in love with the man of her dreams, Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) who just happens to be a 173-year old vampire.

Based on Harris's nine-book series, The Southern Vampire Mysteries (aka the Sookie Stackhouse novels), the bayou hamlet of Bon Temps boils over with scandal and murder when Compton returns to his family homestead that he last visited when he was turned as a vampire during the Civil War.  Sookie's inept and sexually insatiable brother, Jason (Ryan Kwanten), beds nearly every woman in town — including a human 'fangbanger' — and soon a trail of murder victims follow him.  Later when Amy (Lizzie Caplan) introduces Jason to V, drained vampire blood which has become the hottest human narcotic, his life descends into further chaos as the Bon Temps body count rises!Sookie's fascination and growing attraction to Bill drives a wedge between her and Jason, while the grandmother who raised them both, Adele (Lois Smith), trusts in Sookie's judgment.  Tara (Rutina Wesley), Sookie's best friend since childhood, is none too happy with Bill's arrival, but then again she's not happy with much of her difficult life.  Sam Merlotte (Sam Trammell), owner of the self-named bar and grill which doubles as Bon Temps' social center, does his best to look out for all his employees including Sookie, but he owns his own dark secret as well.

Sookie and Bill in TRUE BLOODSEASON TWO picks up right where last season left off, as Detective Andy Bellefleur (Chris Bauer) may have solved the disappearance of Lafayette Reynolds (Nelsan Ellis) which may be related to the sudden appearance in town of a mysterious "social worker" Maryann (Michelle Forbes), who has an antagonistic link to Sam and his true identity.  No doubt Sookie and Bill's relationship will only lead to more complications with Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgård), the local Sheriff of the vampire population who forces Bill to create his first vampire from Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) causing more strife. Alan Ball promises TRUEBLOOD only gets better in SEASON TWO.
